The General Secretary chairs the Scientific Council. She ensures the scientific aspect of the actions approved by the board of directors.

Since September 27, 2011, Mrs. Catherine-Amélie Chassin has become the Institute’s new General Secretary. She is is a Lecturer and directs research at the University Of Caen Lower-Normandy School Of Law. She holds a Master’s degree on fundamental rights, and was awarded her PhD at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas on “Asylum right in France”. Nominated in 2003 at the University of Caen, she was appointed first Vice-Dean of the Law School in October 2011. She is also in charge of the Master’s degree in “Litigation and the practice of fundamental rights”, which hosts and trains every year between 15 and 25 fifth-year law students. As an expert in fundamental rights and international human rights law, she regularly publishes articles in law reviews, dealing with fundamental rights, immigrants, international migrations and the European Convention on Human Rights to name but a few. Catherine-Amélie Chassin is also Deputy Judge for the National Court for Asylum Right.
