On June 19, 2009 was organized the International Human Rights Institute for Peace’s inauguration which took place in the garden of the Maison des Quatrans. The Institute and Alain Tourret, its President, were honored by the presence of Jacques Barrot, European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, Laurent Beauvais, President of the Lower-Normandy Region, Philippe Duron, Deputy Mayor of the City of Caen and François Zimeray, Ambassador for Human Rights. Our President clearly stated: “The Institute will be implementing concrete actions. We will put on huge efforts for the defense of specific causes. We want to work on and think about the inalienable rights which are above the law”. From then on, we have been trying on a daily basis to make Caen the capital of Human Rights and Peace.
